About Group Vacations

What is a group vacation and why is it beneficial?

At Target Tours, a group vacation means everything is taken care of for you: transportation, accommodations, activities, many meals, and the support of a dedicated Tour Host who travels with the group. Their role is to handle the details, coordinate with suppliers, and make sure your experience runs smoothly.

You don’t have to be part of a large group to join — our vacations are perfect for solo travellers, couples, and friends who want to share the journey together.

The benefits go beyond convenience. A guided vacation with Target Tours gives you:

  • Peace of mind: Travel worry-free knowing everything is organized.

  • Community: Share the experience with fellow travellers and build lasting connections.

  • Value: Enjoy the cost savings that come with group travel.

It’s travel made simple, so you can focus on creating memories.

Your Tour Host is with you every step of the way — from the moment you join the group at the airport, train station, or motorcoach departure point, until you’re headed home. Think of them as your personal connection between the group and all the behind-the-scenes details.

Their role includes:

  • Keeping things running smoothly: Making sure the group gets where it needs to be safely and on time.

  • Answering questions: They’re there for anything you need, big or small.

  • Adding fun and connection: Helping bring the group together and making the journey enjoyable.

  • Flexibility: On tours with lots of free time, you can lean on them as much or as little as you like. They’ll have suggestions for activities and can even help you make arrangements.

Every Target Tours Host is a travel professional with extensive customer service experience. They’re also First Aid and CPR certified, so you can feel confident knowing you’re in good hands.

Yes! Through our Target Tours SOLO program, we can pair solo travellers of the same gender to share accommodations and reduce travel costs. It’s a great way to make a new friend and still enjoy the full group experience.

If you’d like to learn more or join the program, click here.

Most of our tours welcome between 16 and 24 travellers. We’ve found this to be the “sweet spot”. Small enough to feel personal and friendly, but large enough to create a fun group dynamic.

For certain destinations groups may be a little larger, but no matter the size, you’ll always enjoy the same welcoming atmosphere and attentive service that Target Tours is known for.

Booking & Payments

How do I book?

You can book in a couple of easy ways:

  • By phone: Call our office at 1-877-214-5367 and chat with one of our team members. We’re here Monday–Thursday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, and Friday until 4:00 pm.

  • Online: Use our user-friendly booking portal right on the vacation page — available 24/7. Powered by WeTravel, it lets you pay your deposit securely, manage your booking, make payments, and complete forms all in one place.

Every Target Tours vacation is designed to be as worry-free as possible. Your package typically includes transportation, accommodations, many meals, and the services of a professional Tour Host. Most tours also include a variety of activities, guided experiences, and sightseeing highlights.

Exact inclusions vary by itinerary. We always list everything clearly on each tour page so you know exactly what is covered before you book.

Your tour price does not include travel protection. We strongly recommend coverage for medical emergencies, trip cancellation, and trip interruption.

For international tours, if you don’t purchase protection through Target Tours, you’ll need to provide proof of alternate coverage. By joining a tour without sufficient emergency medical insurance, you agree not to hold Target Tours responsible for costs that may arise.

You can read about our Travel Protection policies here. For questions or a quote, call us at 1-877-214-5367 — we’ll be happy to help.

A deposit is always due at the time of booking to secure your spot. Final payment dates can vary by tour and will be clearly listed on the tour page, along with any additional payment requirements.

We recommend booking early, as tours often fill quickly and your deposit locks in your place at the best available rate.

Deposits are non-refundable, and once your final payment is made the tour becomes fully non-refundable. We strongly recommend purchasing Travel Insurance Protection to safeguard your investment. For international tours, if you don’t purchase protection through Target Tours, you’ll need to provide proof of alternate coverage.

If one or more guests in a room cancel, the remaining roommate(s) will be responsible for the adjusted rate based on the new occupancy.

In the rare case that Target Tours cancels a trip due to lack of interest, you may choose a full refund or transfer your funds to another tour (subject to supplier fees). As a thank-you, we’ll also provide a $50 travel credit toward your next trip. You’ll always be notified in advance of final payment if a tour is at risk of cancellation.

For full details, please see our Policies Page.

Some of our vacations require a minimum number of participants in order to operate. If a trip is cancelled due to low interest, you will receive a full refund or have the option to transfer your funds to another Target Tours trip (subject to any supplier cancellation fees).

As a thank-you for booking with us, we’ll also provide a $50 travel credit toward your next Target Tours vacation.

We will always inform booked guests before the final payment date so you have plenty of notice. This policy applies to all group trips, including Partner Trips.

Travel Requirements

Do I need a passport?

Yes, a valid passport is required for all tours outside of Canada. For most international travel, your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your tour’s departure date.

Some destinations may also require visas or special entry documents. If that applies, Target Tours will let you know during the booking process and help guide you through what’s needed.

It is each traveller’s responsibility to ensure they have the proper documents and to keep them safe while travelling. Without a valid passport, you may be unable to join or complete your tour.

Vaccination requirements vary depending on your destination and personal health. We recommend reviewing your travel plans with a healthcare professional to determine what’s right for you.

For convenience, Target Tours has partnered with the Virtual Travel Clinic, where you can easily book an online consultation and receive personalized guidance on recommended vaccinations and medications for your trip.

Your emergency contact should be someone who can step in if you or your travel companion need to leave the tour unexpectedly, most often due to a medical situation. Ideally, this person should:

  • Know they’ve been chosen as your contact.

  • Have a copy of your itinerary, passport, and insurance details.

  • Be willing and able to travel if necessary and assist in getting you home.

  • Be prepared to speak with your insurance company on your behalf if you’re unable.

If you need to update your emergency contact, please let Target Tours know at least 30 days before departure.

Most destinations outside North America require an adapter or converter for your electronics. Cruise ships are the exception, as cabins always have North American plugs.

In Europe and other international locations, you’ll need the correct adapter to charge items like phones, tablets, and cameras. Details on the type of adapter required will be included in your travel documents, which you’ll receive 2–3 weeks before departure.

Keep in mind that some appliances also require the right voltage. Always check your appliance specifications before use to avoid damage.

Only if you’d like to. Most of our tours do not require formal attire. Some cruise lines offer optional “Evening Chic” nights where guests can dress up if they wish, but it is never mandatory.

Casual wear is generally acceptable in the main dining room and specialty restaurants, provided it is neat and presentable. Items such as overly worn jeans, tank tops, flip-flops, baseball caps, and visors are not permitted.

Specific dress code details will be included in your pre-tour documents, which you’ll receive 2–3 weeks before departure.

Currency information will be outlined in your detailed itinerary about 2–3 weeks before departure. For some destinations, we may provide guidance even earlier if the currency is less common and may take time to order.

In many locations, especially in the Caribbean and Europe, credit cards such as Visa or MasterCard are widely accepted. The Euro is the most common currency in Europe, though some countries use their own. American Express and Diners Club are not as widely accepted.

Your pre-tour documents will always explain which currency is recommended for your specific itinerary and how much you may wish to bring in cash.

On Tour: Comfort & Flexibility

Will I receive information before departure?

Yes. Every traveller receives detailed pre-tour documents that outline everything you need to know for your trip. These include your day-by-day itinerary, travel tips, packing guidance, currency information, and any special requirements.

We typically send these documents 2–3 weeks before departure, giving you plenty of time to prepare and feel confident about your upcoming vacation.

We’re happy to do our best to accommodate special requests. Please let us know at the time of booking if you have any dietary needs, mobility concerns, or room preferences (such as accessible rooms, adjoining rooms, or cots).

All requests must be submitted before final payment so we can coordinate with our suppliers in advance. While every request may not be possible, we will always make every effort to assist.

Each traveller is allowed one standard-sized suitcase plus a carry-on. For fly/cruise tours, checked luggage must not exceed 22 kg/50 lbs. Carry-on bags should be lightweight and small enough to fit in overhead compartments or meet airline requirements.

To help with packing, we’ll include tips in your pre-tour documents. You can also reach out anytime for a copy of our Ultimate Packing List.

Yes, most tours include free time so you can explore at your own pace. Whether it’s a quiet afternoon in a small town or extra time in a big city, how you spend it is completely up to you.

If you’d like some guidance, our office team can suggest or even help arrange optional excursions in advance. While on tour, your Tour Host will also be happy to recommend activities and assist with bookings. You can choose to explore independently or join your Tour Host for their own plans (at an additional cost).

Flight changes, delays, or cancellations are the responsibility of the airline and are outside of Target Tours’ control. While we cannot be held liable for these events or any additional expenses, we are here to support you if they occur.

We strongly recommend having travel protection. Our Manulife policies include a Flight Assistance program where you can register your flights and, in many cases, receive compensation if your flight is delayed.

When group tickets are issued, the airline assigns seats automatically. This means you cannot select a window, aisle, or specific seat in advance.

In most cases, travelling companions are seated together, though on occasion you may be separated. If that happens, Target Tours will do our best to work with the airline at the gate to seat you together, but this cannot be guaranteed.

organization combine for a memorable travel experience. John will act as Tour Director
for some of his favourite tours such as river cruises and Europe.
